MUSIC LESSONS
- Lessons are for all ages and levels of experience. An interview is required to determine students’ interests and levels of ability. That meeting is billed as a 45-minute lesson
- Lessons are available at St. Paul’s UMC and First Methodist Church (both of Alton, IL).
- Lessons are prepaid by the month, and due by the 25th of the preceding month. Payments can be made in cash, PayPal, or Zelle.
FEE STRUCTURE
- Initial Interview/audition: $45.00
- 30-Minute Lesson (beginners) $30.00 Beginner music lessons are based on the fundamentals of enjoyment of learning to create music. Students will sing, play keyboards, hand percussion instruments and basic solfeggio. After a period of beginner lessons (normally 8-10 weeks) we can determine if our focus will be voice, piano, or cointinuing the existing path.
- 45-Minute Lesson (intermediate to advanced) $45.00 Students will normally move to a 45-minute lesson structure following the completion of the 10-week beginner phase of instruction
- Performance and Stylistic Coaching begins at $60 for 90-minute sessions.

ABOUT DR CHILES
Dr. Chiles is an award-winning musician and educator who began his musical studies in the 3rd grade as a percussion student. He added trumpet, French horn, and oboe to his instruments of interest.
Eventually, he added organ and keyboard studies in order to play for his sister’s wedding in his freshman year of high school.
A highly successful Pre K-12 public and parochial school music teacher, he was also active as a performer and church musician for a variety of denominations.
Dr. Chiles holds an undergraduate degree in music, a graduate degree in conducting and performance studies from Bowling Green State University’s College of Music (in Ohio), and a doctorate (Ed.D.) from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
He has studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Kent State University, and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, IN.
